SS-01 Medical Devices

Organizer: PhD program in Biomedical Engineering

Description: Medical devices improve patients’ quality of life by helping health care providers monitor, diagnose and treat their patients. Their global market was valued at US$ 447.63 Billion in 2019. The design of such devices varies in both their intended use and indications for use and constitutes a major segment of biomedical engineering. Examples range from simple and low-risk devices, such as medical thermometers, to complex and high-risk devices, such as pacemakers. Integral to the design of novel medical devices is also the development of advanced data analysis methodologies and biomedical signal modelling.
