 Prof. Paulo Pinho

Lic (Ba) in Economics by Faculty of Economics , New  University of Lisbon. Master in Business Administration  by the  Faculty of Economics, New University of Lisbon. PhD in Banking and Finance  City University (Cass) Business School, London. Pro-rector of the New University of Lisbon in charge of Entrepreneurship. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, at the New University of Lisbon. He teaches courses of the Master in Finance, namely Banking, Private Equity e Entrepreneurial Finance and Venture Capital,, as well as  courses of the Lisbon MBA (New University of Lisbon, Universidade Católica and MIT), namely designadamente Corporate Restructuring, Banking e Private Equity. Paulo Soares de Pinho is a Visiting Professor at the Cass Business School, London, where he teaches  courses in the fields of Banking and Corporate Finance. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Luxembourg Business Academy of the University of Luxembourg, where he teaches Entrepreneurial Finance and Venture Capital. Paulo Soares de Pinho has extensive practical experience in private equity, currently serving on the board of directors of Sonae Capital SGPS and of Change Partners, Soc de Capital de Risco. He is Non-Executive Director / Board Member of  Biotecnol, SA. He is also president of the general council of the Fundo de Sindicação de Capital de Risco PME-IAPMEI (a venture capital syndication fund). Previously, Paulo Soares de Pinho was executive director and board member of REN - Redes Eléctricas Nacionais. He has advised various enterprises - in Portugal and U.K. He also worked as a consultant to several financial and energy companies

 

 Prof. Paulo Verissimo

Theme: Cloud Computing and the problem of users security and privacy

Paulo Veríssimo is currently a Professor of the Department of Computer Science and member elect of the Board of the U. of Lisbon and of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Sciences of the U. of Lisbon. He is the Director of the Large-Scale Informatics Systems Laboratory, LaSIGE. He is Fellow of the IEEE and Fellow of the ACM. He was Chair of the IEEE Tech. Committee on Fault-Tolerant Computing (2003-04) and of the Steering Committee of the DSN conference. He also belonged to the European Security & Dependability Advisory Board. Paulo Veríssimo is associate editor of the Elsevier Int’l Journal on Critical Infrastructure Protection (IJCIP - 2008---), and was associate editor for the IEEE Tacs. on Dependable and Secure Computing (2004-08). He served as PC co-chair of the IEEE/IFIP DSN-2001 conference and General Chair of DSN-2009. Veríssimo leads the Navigators research group of LaSIGE, and is currently interested in distributed architectures, middleware and algorithms in two main facets: adaptability and safety of real-time networked embedded systems; and resilience of secure and dependable large-scale systems. He is author or co-author of over 170 peer-refereed publications in conferences and journals and co-author of 5 books.

 

Dr. Armando Walter Colombo

The Shop Floor as a Service‐Cloud?

Armando Walter Colombo received the Doctor-Engineer Degree from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Institute for Manufacturing Automation and Production Systems / Prof. Klaus Feldmann), Germany, in 1998. In 2001 he joined the Anticipation and Architectures Group, R&D Department, Schneider Electric GmbH, Germany. Since November 2008 he has is Schneider Electric Edison L2 Group Senior Expert. His research interests are in the fields of service-oriented architecture (SoA), collaborative automation, intelligent supervisory control, formal specification of flexible production systems. He is a senior member of the IEEE and member of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V.. Dr. Colombo served/serves as Associated Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (2004-2007) and of the IEEE Transaction on Automation System Engineering (T-ASE / 2008-2010), and Associated Editor of the IFAC Associated Journal ATP-International. He is Senior Member of the IEEE IES Administrative Committee (AdCom), Chairman of the IEEE IES Committee on Industrial Agents and he served/serves as advisor for the definition of the R&D priorities within the Framework Programs 6 and 7 of the European Commission (Directorate General Research), of WINOVA (Swedish Ministery for R&D) and NSERC (Canadian Government). Dr. Colombo has more than 180 publications in journals, books, and chapters of books and conference proceedings.

 

 Dr. Ricardo Saldanha

SisCog - Sistemas Cognitivos

Theme: Decision support for optimising the operation in transportation

Dr. Ricardo Saldanha has 25 years of experience on R&D and engineering work related with the development of decision support systems for Optimizing the Operational Schedules (OOS) of fixed route transportation companies. This experience has been achieved at SISCOG ‐ Sistemas Cognitivos, SA, a software company that develops and maintains OOS systems that are used daily to produce optimized schedules for more than 20,000 drivers and other staff members of several metro and railway operators, such as NS (Dutch Railways), DSB (Danish Railways), LUL (London Underground), ML (Lisbon Underground) among others. During these years Dr. Ricardo published several scientific material reporting the results of his R&D work and received from AAAI (Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence) the Innovative Application Award in 2012.
